Food, love, design. Il libro perfetto per Gorgelous. Un’idea grafica covata per 5 anni che poi incontra una passione e diventa un’avventura editoriale. Caz Hildebrand, nota graphic designer (ha realizzato i libri di Nigella Lawson e dei cuochi Sam & Sam Clark del Ristorante Moro di Londra), tiene in cottura un’idea affascinata dalla texture geometrica dei 300 tipi di pasta e Jacob Kennedy, cuoco, comproprietario di Bocca di Lupo a Soho (eletto miglior ristorante londinese), spinto dalla curiosità dell’abbinamento fra formati di pasta e tipo di sugo, hanno lavorato a questo bellissimo libro, che nella sua semplicità visiva si stacca dalla monotonia dei libri poggiati sul bancone della libreria.

Food, love, design. The perfect book for Gorgelous. A graphic idea, boiling for 5 years, that meets the passion of a chef and becomes an adventure.
Caz Hildebrand, well known graphic designer, who realized Nigella Lawson’s books and the one by Sam & Sam Clark of Ristorante Moro in London, was fascinated by the graphic texture of 300 kinds of pasta, and Jacob Kennedy, chef, co-owner of Bocca di Lupo in Soho (best restaurant in London), looking for the perfet sauce for each shape of pasta, have worked oon this beautiful book, simple and visually strong, that stands out from the monotony of the bookshelf.

Girovagando per Sintra, sempre a naso in su. Una bellissima insegna per un ristorante di pesce. Poi un negozio molto carino pieno di idee, dove troneggia un enorme campanaccio azzurro. Voglio portarlo con me in aereo! Mario me lo giri per e-mail domani per favore?

Strolling around Sintra. A stunning signage for a restaurant, then a nice creative shop full of ideas, I love the big cowbell. How can I take it on the plane??? Mario, can you please e-mail it to me to Rome?

Gorgelous Portugal. Farol Design Hotel.

Pranzo di pesce, ultimo giorno d’estate, anche quando il calendario dice che è ormai andata. Al Farol Design Hotel, a Cascais, una terrazza sull’oceano, voglia di restare qui e buttare la chiave. Si mangia benissimo, una zuppa di patate e peperoncino piccante ed erba cipollina, pesce e verdure appena scottate, un cono di cioccolato con mousse di fragole.

All fish for lunch, for the last day of summer when the calendar says that’s already gone. At Farol Design Hotel, in Cascais, a terrasse diving in the ocean, wanting to stay here for ever and throw the key away. Very good food, a soup of potatoes and pimentos, fish and vegetables, very good dessert, a cone of chocolate with strawberry mousse inside.

E di colpo ti ritrovi nella campagna inglese. Ci sono molti inglesi in Portogallo da sempre. Ma è roba da non crederci. Il tè delle cinque, la boiserie, la biblioteca, il camino. Si dice che una famiglia si sia innamorata di questo posto e abbia speso tutto per restaurarlo. Il Restaurante Lawrence’s è a Sintra, indicato anche dalla Guida Michelin. L’Hotel Lawrence è il più antico della Penisola Iberica (1764). Sono le quattro del pomeriggio, troppo presto per il tè, troppo tardi per il pranzo. MA qua si mangia stasera alle undici e qualcosa di buono ci vuole. E allora uno strepitoso sandwich di chèvre con limonata.

And suddendly you find yourself in England, in an english cottage. They say that a lot of English people live here, they’ve always loved this place,they’ve always had their own rituals, like tea at 5 o’clock. They say that one family fell in love with this place and spent all the money to renew it. It’s 4 o’clock, too early for tea, too late for lunch. But here they eat dinner at 11 p.m. and I will probably starve before it. Let’s have a tasty sandwich au chèvre and fresh lemonade.

Lisbona, Sintra, Cascais. Grandissimo successo della micromostra portoghese di Alessandro Ferraro, con due nuovi soggetti marinari, (IL MARINAIO) nella terra di Magellano e Vasco de Gama. Passata di mano in mano è stata visitata veramente da vicino da una folla sterminata di visitatori. Una tre giorni di arte, sole ed estate.

Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais. Huge success for the portuguese edition of Alessandro Ferraro’s Microexhibition, with two new subjectS (THE SAILOR) landed in the country of Magellan and Vasco de Gama. Passed through hundreds of hands, has been visited by hundreds of visitors. A three day event, in the name of art, sun and summer.
